I’m excited as the strike is over. The change for better is upon us and the Hollywood entertainment world is ready to go. While some projects are behind schedule, there is no doubt that more people will be needed as the Summer 2024 movies finished and Fall TV season needs to be prepped.
It’s a great time to be an actor! You will be surprised how many opportunities will open up for you. Get out and make 2024 your best year. In fact I’d go so far to say that you deserve all the best for the upcoming year and now is the time to find it!
Actors by ready for 2024
Don’t just think about getting ready for being part of the working actors who are acting in 2024. Make it happen so you can be part of it. I know I am getting ready and you should too!
Here are four acting tips to kick off the new year right:
Set Clear Goals:
Define your acting goals for the year ahead. Whether it’s landing specific roles, improving specific skills, or expanding your network, make your goals specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (REAL goals). Write them down and create an action plan for how you can work towards achieving them throughout the year.
Take New Acting Classes or Workshops:
Continuing to learn and grow as an actor is crucial. Consider taking new acting classes or workshops to develop new skills or enhance existing ones. Look for classes that focus on areas you want to improve, such as scene study, improvisation, voice training, or physicality. Taking new classes can provide fresh perspectives, expose you to different techniques, and help you grow as an actor.
Update Your Actor’s Toolkit
Start the new year by updating your actor’s toolkit. This includes your headshot, resume, and demo reel. Review your headshot to ensure it accurately represents your current look and personality. Update your resume with recent credits, training, and skills. If you don’t have a demo reel or it needs improvement, start gathering footage from your recent work or consider shooting new scenes to showcase your abilities.
Network and Collaborate
Networking is a vital part of the acting industry. Use the new year as an opportunity to expand your network and collaborate with other actors, directors, writers, and industry professionals. Attend industry events, join acting meetups or workshops, and engage with fellow actors on social media platforms. Building relationships and collaborations can lead to new opportunities, referrals, and valuable connections that can propel your career forward.
Bonus Tip: Take Care of Yourself
Acting can be mentally and emotionally demanding, so self-care is essential. Make sure to take care of yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally. Prioritize balanced nutrition, regular exercise, and enough sleep to ensure you have the energy to perform at your best. Engage in activities that bring you joy outside of acting to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
Get Started Planning Your Acting in 2024
Start the new year with a positive mindset and proactive steps towards achieving your acting goals. By setting clear goals, investing in your skills, updating your toolkit, networking, and prioritizing self-care, you’ll be on your way to a successful and fulfilling year ahead.
